Cane Seat Weaving Day Course, Click here for details & available dates.
Learn the traditional heritage craft of chaircaning. I'll teach you the six way weave so you can go on with confidence and restore your own cane seated furniture.
10am until 5pm and all materials, refreshments and lunch-freshly prepared by Cobbles Cafe are provided. I'll be giving you each a frame to weave on and keep.
£100 per person.
Set in my 400 year old building in the centre of Alston, The Cane Workshop has wonky floors and beams, and it's full of character and charm.
The course room is up one flight of stairs, it has Tudor wood panelled walls, and two window seats that face the old Market Cross - just perfect to sit in with a cuppa.
It's a wonderful way to spend the day and is a mindful skill to learn. It's easy to chat while you weave and you'll soon be whizzing away.
I am happy to run the course on my chosen days with a minimum of two people - maximum of four.
If you wish to book an alternative day for up to four of you, maybe a birthday treat or country getaway, please just email me and I'll see what I can do for you.

You will finish the day with a completed frame, which will have shown you every step, and a colour instruction booklet to keep- for your next chair caning project!
You must read my "Seat Weaving Day Course FAQ" page on this website before booking for all the info & cancelation policy etc, as there are accessibility restrictions because of the age of the building, I'm happy to answer any questions you have first before booking, just email me : [email protected]
